Ring in the New

Tim and I have a New Years Eve tradition that we’ve been doing now for 6 years.  To celebrate the beginning of a new year we leave the city of Seattle for a destination that is in driving distance.  We’ve had the pleasure of going to Victoria, Portland, Eugene, Lake Quinault, and Fall City (twice).

This year I am ashamed to say that I do not have one photograph to show you, but this one, a picture taken on Christmas Eve.  This was the gift that I won/received at our white elephant exchange.  Why is it important to the New Year.  Well we headed out to Fall City again this year and David (my brother-in-law) and I decided we would add another 10 bottles and go for a taste around the world.

Wishing you all a blessed 2010.

Walk Good!

Due to sickness or bad weather Cheryl and I had a hard time coordinating this session for over two, maybe three months.  Well, it finally happened and I’m so excited to show you these images.

Green Lake is one of my favorite locations to shoot; the beauty and energy of this place is constant.  It was a sunny cold day, the lake was partially frozen, the path was crowded and I believe I spotted another 3 photographers…guess they love it here too.

When Risa moved to Seattle a few years ago we were all trying to find someone to set her up with.  She’s a cute southern girl with an accent, saying words like y’all.  After locking herself out of a trailer on a job site, it was Jeff that came to her rescue.

It was a fun afternoon on the beach, thank you for giving me the opportunity to be your photographer.  Congratulations you guys, wishing you much love and blessings.  They’ll be getting married in June 2010.

Still Here

I haven’t forgotten about you.  Life just seems to be a little crazy right now.  I’m in the process of editing a couple of shoots and should have them live in about two days.

Don’t forget to take time out of your busy day to enjoy the Christmas lights and the fun activities your city may have to offer.

Thanks!

What are you thankful for?  And I don’t mean the obvious things like family and friends.  Here’s my short list.

1.  I’m thankful for the Christmas ornament sent to me by my sister – it reminds me of home

2.  I’m thankful for Airborne – have you tried it.  It works

3.  I’m thankful for hugs, they just fix everything.

4.  I’m thankful for Christmas lights.

5.  I’m thankful for promotion codes.  It makes that purchase just a little bit easier

6.  I’m thankful for my workouts – spinning, swimming and running

7.  I’m thankful for the clothes that no longer fit me…due to my workouts

8.  I’m thankful for sunny days

9.  I’m thankful for blog readers…you keep me going

10.  I’m thankful for my camera

We Gave A Shoe Box

For the last 10 years I’ve had the priviledge to fill a shoe box or two  The brain child of Samaritan’s Purse  is a program called Operation Christmas Child.  I love what they do.  It’s such a simple yet effective way to give over the Christmas season.  Choose an age and gender, purchase items that will fit in a shoe box, donate a little money for shipping, drop the box or boxes off at a local church and know that by Christmas a child in a third world country will be enjoying the box you filled.

Here’s a good story for you.  One of the reasons I decided to do this program was because I knew that shoe boxes would end up in Jamaica.  Three years after filling my first box, I was living in Massachusetts and I did my annual Christmas donation.   This time I put a note in the box.  Well fast forward one year, I was now living in Seattle, and a letter had tracked me down.  It was a letter from the little girl who had received my shoe box and she was from – Jamaica.  How amazing is it that my shoe box would end up in hills of my island home.  I cried like a baby the first time I read her letter.

The O’Donnell Family

I’ve lived in Seattle for over 6-years and that’s how long I’ve known this family.  Robin and I share the love of photography and sports.

It was huge for Robin to have family pictures that included herself, I knew exactly what she meant.  But being the lonely woman in the O’Donnell clan, Robin had a hard time convincing the boys how important this photo shoot was to her.  Here’s just a sneak peak at a fun shoot, thanks guys for not letting your mom/wife down.

Moriarity Kids

Quin and Colin were pros, naturals in front of the camera.  I wish you could’ve all been there to watch them in action.  I’ve added more images to this post because I just couldn’t choose, enjoy.

MJ’s Head Shot

I married into a very talented family.  My sister-in-law Mary Jo is an actress/singer right here in Seattle.  Many of you have probably seen her on stage, if not, you should.  We had her session out at her home in Fall City, a beautiful place with a whole lot of character.    For her professional portfolio we had her wearing five different outfits.  Here’s an image of Jo in each one.
